Well, I don't care at all about addons for the IL-2 series.
You're right, the IL-2 series has been around for some time. However, IL-2 Forgotten Battles has only been around since March 2003. So, it's not that old.
The next release [IL-2 Battle of Britain] will only happen in 2005.
UBI may be taking too long to release their products, but at least their products are made with better quality and functionality than Microsoft's products. This is because UBI is pretty much listening to the demands of its customers [the customer is always right.

] and it uses that extra time to fix whatever bugs may exist before they release their final set.
Microsoft, however, does NOT take its time. Bill Gates is more into your wallet than he is into your demands. So for him, time is money and he doesn't care about the bugs in his products.
I like how I am able to pan around with the mouse. It helps me look around more quickly and fluidly.
I found out about a weapon that one of the Russian planes carry in the sim. A friend of mine showed me.
If you fly the IL-2 aircraft, you should install it with those weird things that look like two black tubes set at an angle.
Fly over your target and press the release button. You'll see some balls fall and in a second they'll collapse into huge fireballs.
I never thought it was possible. It is so cool, it's freaky.

It's like dropping napalm over your enemy. SWEEEEEET
Can CFS3 do that? It never did. Even if you could, you'll need addons. IL-2 doesn't need addons [mostly] because the features are already there.
If their was a problem with IL-2, then all you ever need was to either restart the sim or install a simple patch with miracles.
In CFS, if their was a problem, you'll have to explore the root directory and modify some files or run a complicated application or reinstall the whole sim or reconnect if you're playing online and many more complicated things.
Not only that, IL-2 has better graphics, realistic damage effects, better sound quality, better compalibility, and better functionality. All that at a very good price of $30-$40 when released and after about half a year, it's down to $20.
IL-2 Forgotten has only been around since March 2003 and already the price is dropping like a brick. It's already $20. Compare that to M$'s CFS and MSFS.
I'm not trying to tell you to buy IL-2. I'm just telling you this so that you can make a better decision when buying a combat sim. It's a money saver.
