I'm currently tracking down & re-reading some of my favourite books that either got lost during various moves or lent & never returned. (Don't you hate it when that happens? ) I've found some bargains including a brand new copy of "Most Secret War" by R.V. Jones for

Believe me, it's no better in the US military. One of the countless bits of incredibly stupid things that go on that come to mind. In many of the field manuals, in the back of the books there are blank pages. You see in big print on each blank page the following- "This page left blank intentionally." By virtue of the writing on the page....it's not blank.  ::)

I think the most disturbing and absurd thing I've seen to date is at the drive up automated tellers window at the bank. The buttons are in brail. LMAO....are they seriously expecting a blind person to drive up to the window! Even if the idea was for them to be driven to the bank. Odds are that the sighted driver would use the drive up window in as much as the windows are designed for access by the driver.  ;D

I guess it's there because of federal laws about handicapped accessibility. The federal government is not well know for it's abundance of common sense.  ::)

Also when I was with my wife at a doctors appointment. I noticed a restroom signs for his/hers restrooms....both signs were also in brail. I proceeded to ask the nurse, If they can't see the sign and don't know it's there, how can they read the brail? Or are they expected to grope the wall in search of the sign? Odds are they didn't drive themselves to the doctor and the sighted person with them would more than likely assist them to the restroom. She had no clear reasonable answer.

Unfortunately, the people responsible for this mindless nonsense can't see your objection to it. They also get paid a good salary for dreaming all this up in the first place. Their wages & the expense involved in implementing their wacky ideas usually come out of our taxes. I suppose the joke's on us.

Those are two books that I greatly enjoyed reading and I must buy them at some point....

Also look out Your Walrus Hurt The One You Love by Philip Norman. A book of malapropisms that had be laughing for days.
