If a person from berlin is a berliner, then is a person from hamburg, a hamburger?(same for frankferters)

These are questions i have pondered during class today

Why is "W" pronounced Double-You when it's really two V's?

Mabe because "u" is easier to say then "v"?

If occasional furniture is furniture occasionally, what is it the rest of the time?

I've pondered this for years....lol.

I was afraid of that. Maybe he's a sandwich short of a picnic. Working on your basis what do they call someone from the Virgin Islands? ;)

PS. It's Hamburg & Frankfurt. BTW
The residents are called Hamburgers & Frankfurters.
