There are different kinds of comedians.  For movies or TV, Steve Martin and Gene Wilder, and John Belushi.

For Stand-up it's got to be Robin Williams or Sam Kinnison...

"Hey, we just came 6000 miles with your food, and on the way over, we had an idea.  Maybe this wouldn't be so hard if you people would move WHERE THE FOOD IS!  You live in a desert!  Nothing grows here!  Get your shit, pack your stuff, we'll make ONE trip!  Move where the food is!"

  • Famous: George Carlin, I've never laughed so much just reading a book! ;D Napalm and Silly Putty, it just demand to be read!
  • Personally: This Scottish kid named David I knew a year or two ago.  Although I still have doubts he was really Scottish, he was the funniest person I've ever heard.  Good times... :)
  • Entertainment: The Simpsons is the only show on TV that's even remotely funny.  Family Guy was taken off, and that was good also.  The Far Side is always a great read. ;D

While my girlfriend is, to date, the funniest human being I've ever had the blessing of knowing (she can just look at me a certain way and it's over...), there are numerous people who make careers out of making me laugh.

First and foremost, the king.  The Comedy God.  Mr. George Carlin.  If you haven't heard his airline routine, find it.  You'll be in tears.

Second.  Colin Quinn.  He's awful.  But he's hysterically awful.

Third.  Lewis Black.  THAT is my sense of humor identically.  I'll just go off on rants that are very Black-esque.

Fourth.  Chris Rock.  Hilarious.

Fifth.  Dave Attell.  Insomniac on Comedy Central is hilarious.  And it's not scripted, making it even funnier.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.
