Censorship is bad, even wen the subject matter is replusive. When the first person looses their right - even if richly deserved, it opens the flood gates. Censorship is as evil as the junk it tries to "protect us" from.

I couldn't agree more about censorship Jester.  Most things should never be censored, however this is a special case.  There are quite a few books out there that deal with this subject.  Books written by victims and text books designed to train the psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses that have to deal with the perpatrators of these horrible crimes.

In the UK we have a law that stops criminals from profiting from their crimes, you probably have one in the states as well.  If a drug dealer is arrested here and cannot prove his income that allowed him to buy a 30 roomed mansion and his fleet of cars it is confiscated by the state.

This book is written by a sick individual who likes to abuse under age boys.  From the reviews on the Amazon page it would seem that he is justifying what he does and trying to inform us of how it should be seen as normal.  This is not and will never be acceptable.  Censorship stinks because the government tells adults what they may and may not listen to.  It is intended to protect free thinking individual who are old enough to make their own decisions.  Stopping the publication of this book would protect the young.

I don't allow my daughter to watch horror films as I wish to protect her, I want to ban this book for the same reason.  This is not a politically subversive book, it is not dangerous to any government, it is not unacceptable to only a small portion of the population.  It is not bad on religious or moral grounds.  There is no moral code that can be dignified with the term that allows the abuse of children

There is no need to offer any support for paedophiles and allow them to give each other guidance.  They have to be hounded and tracked down until none remain.

Very much so, Andrew.

I do believe censorship is not necessarily evil.

An excellent point, Pip.  As I said in my other post, we're all faced with censorship every day, and most of the time it goes unnoticed, unless you should happen to catch the "beep" on the radio.

Censorship is not a bad thing until it becomes a governmental control tactic, which thankfully has not yet transpired.

However, it's a moot point, because I can not recall a single instance during this discussion when someone suggested censorship as a solution to something like this.

Instead, what's being "organized" is a protest, which is also guaranteed and protected under the Constitution of the United States ( ;))
Great edit, Bob.

I only read 2 and a half pages of this thread. I didn't bother to read the rest because the posts I read have moved me deeply.

I also refuse to live in a world where sex offenders are given equal rights. I clearly understand that the constitution grants people the right to choose, but such an action made by an offender is not a choice. It is a crime. Remember, crime does not pay, the criminal does.

I know a congressman for Florida that will probably help us bring down those who made the offenses and bring down those who support such offenses. I think his name is Lincoln Diaz-Balartz (the congressman of Florida). I had my picture taken with him one time. My parents know exactly where the building is where he goes for business.

I'll try sending him a letter notifying him of this situation. This should also help us notify those in the Legislative branch.

I'll tell my neighbors about this as well. Maybe they know someone who can really help put a stop to this madness.

Do any of you people have any way of notifying the news? Like NBC, BBC, ABC, CNN, WSVN7, and so on. That will spread the word out like wildfire.

When I read the info, I felt like I was gonna to throw up my intestines. Really. These criminals will not get away it. NOBODY ESCAPES JUSTICE!!!!!!!!

Man, too bad nobody can put limitations on the internet. Like always, the internet has gotten worse. And now it has become like the American Wild West, it's totally lawless territory.

Child molesters have always come up with some stupid @55 excuse for what they did. And their remarks are as stupid as their criminal act.

I saw a show on NBC that's called "Law & Order: Criminal Intent".

On this episode, a doctor had molested his step-son. The investigators found out about this. When they got him, the guy came up with a remark that makes him sound like he doesn't know what he's doing:

Suspect - "Look, parents are supposed to love their children, right?"

This comment makes any offender give away this message to the prosecuters: "Hey look, I did it!!!" It's like shooting off a signal flare behind enemy lines.

This is just a TV show, but it clearly states that such crimes are NEVER to be tolerated and that the offenders are stupid at what they say to defend themselves.

I guess that's what they're gonna say in real life when they're caught.

I don't think I would compare this situation to a television show.  (Especially the WORST Law and Order series...the first one was the best!)

Hyperion, where I stand:

Think the book needs to go away and I fully support the boycott.

I'm not willing to allow government censorship a foothold no matter what trash comes out. Once the government gets in, there is no getting them out. I'm a parent, I'll raise my kids - to include monitoring what they watch on TV, books they read, and web sites they visit. I do not want or need help from the goverment to be a parent.

*to any NSA agents watching*
Uncle Sam, hands off - I swore a oath to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America against all enemies both foreign and domestic. I did not swear an oath to protect the government from the people it claims to represent. Of the people, by the people, and for the people - not of you, by you, and for you.

Ok... I'm off of my soap box, any questions?
