another sniper

sky news is reporting that there seems to be another round of sniper attacks in the US, this time in West Virginia. they are reporting it to be a copycat round of the washington sniper, i am hoping someone in the states can shed some light on this as they only gave a short report on it here.

Terrible buisiness. People are just absolutly sick sometimes. You know, granted, I like to start up Vice City sometimes and go to the top of a building and snipe people, but that's just a game. And these guys think it's a game too.  :-/

Ivan just 'cos someone kills doesn't mean they are a muslim nutter.
Its tragic that there are mentally disturbed people that feel that they have to do something like this to get their 5 mins of fame :(

What worries me is that more & more people seem to have problems separating fantasy from reality. I don't think the continual graphic violence we're bombarded with on TV, films & games helps in this respect. Even little kids are allowed to watch this nonsense these days & see it as normal. ::)

Now, now, now...let's not get any misinformation into the air.  People tend to freak out when they hear things like this.  lol

The Associated Press is reporting that the police have requested the assistance of the FBI because they're not sure if they're dealing with one individual or more than one.  The three shootings thus far may not even be connected at all.  The only common thread they share is that all three individuals were killed at or near gas stations and/or convenience stores.

And Ivan...please be careful about throwing the words al Qaeda into something prematurely...I've seen similar forums turn to anti-muslim forums based on someone doing just that.  There is no indication right now that ANY terrorism is involved, let alone al Qaeda...

This could change later on, but this is all they're saying right now...
Great edit, Bob.

Scott the British media are saying that the weapon is the same type in all the shootings. Can you give us any more data?

I agree Hagar...it's not a matter of children emulating what they see on television and hear on the radio.  It's the result of parents not raising their own children.

Too many parents want other people (ie government, teachers, etc) to do the parenting, and not take the responsibility on themselves.

However, in their defense, I'd also point out that schools and government haven't exactly been handed this without asking for it.

Lawmakers and educators have been slowly taking away parental rightsresponsibilities for quite a while...

Chicken or the egg 2003....

Mark, I hadn't heard that, but if I should hear anything, I'll let you guys know.

Maybe it's better that you don't. I avoid it if at all possible. LOL

IN RESPONSE TO OZZY:

There are some similarities, according to CNN.  Slugs from two of the shootings share common characteristics, indicating that perhaps they were fired from the same weapon, or same type of weapon, and the third was too damaged to tell.

All three victims were shot within a four day period (#'s 2 and 3 within an hour of each other) at convenience stores, in the head, with a single shot, from a distance.

The mayor of the town, however, is saying that its still too early to tell.

IMHO, it does seem like an awful lot of coincidences, doesn't it?

Looks like another copy cat. Seems to be happening a lot. Just this past summer there was some guy going arround grabing kids in Toronto after the much reported Holly Jones murder case. Like Hagar said, people seem to have a big problem separating reality and fiction. On the other hand, some wish to turn another's reality into their own. That's where you get copy cat crimes. Another example is the Taber Alberta school shooting shortly after Columbine.
I partially blame the media for over reporting things. Too much reporting on a criminal event gives deranged people ideas.
[center]I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. ;)
