I think I first 'signed up' around July 2002. the same time as Piper.
The fact that I have have some very lengthy discussions with the likes of Hagar, Hawker, Andrew etc. means that my tally of posts is pretty high (although not as high as some in shorter periods).
For instance, get three or four of us going on the BoB or the Spit versus the Hurricane, and it's worth a good 15-20 posts each by the time we've all exchanged ideas.

Some have said that they are bored with some of the discussions that we have, sometimes the same kind of subject (although to us there are subtle differences). Well, they don't have to even see it, if they don't want to.
I generally only post in General Discussion and Cafe SimV. The rest I only visit, very occasionally.

Some do get there numbers up by spamming, but as I've been 'accused' of being unnecessarily long-winded on many occasions, I dare say that in total words, I would definitely be well up front.................lol

As far as I'm concerned, give what you want, take what you need, and it should all come out in the wash.
Some of us have more time to spend here than others.
Age, school, work, family. health etc all effect how much we can give. So if some one can only pop in occasionally, that's fine, they obviously have something more important to tend to.
But then, if you can't or don't spend as much time here as others, then you aren't going to get the numbers up, if that's what really is important to you...........

To tell you the truth, I don't even know how many I have, right now.................I think it's around 1500...... ;D :D

....I've always thought it was a bit of a shame that we lost all our earlier posts when the old "Ultraboard" Forum closed down, a few years ago... :'(...!
I see a few members/mates from those days are still here, typing away..... ;D...!
Andrew would have had ZILLIONS of posts by now if they could have been added to this new, (YaBB), Forum... :o...!
LOL...!

Cheers, all you lot, old and new... ;D...!

I always thought this "feature" is the worst part of the Yabb board. I know Pete would remove it if he could. I've always said the number of posts means absolutely nothing, it's the content that counts. For some strange reason the majority of members associate number of posts with wisdom & knowledge. In the FS & Design forums I've spotted some of the people I most admire completely ignored just because they don't visit the forum too often & have one star. You tell me who's missing out.

I've been a member of the old Ultraboard & this forum from day one under various names. I don't particularly like forums & this is the only one I participate in. Until recently, I was on the list of top 15 posters under 2 different aliases. Adding the totals together would put me up there with Andrew & BMan. I take no pride in this whatsoever as it means nothing at all. If anything, it proves I have too much time on my hands. As with any community you have to earn the respect of the others. Because of this forum I've made some good friends & learned a lot. If I can help somebody in return I'm delighted.

I don't really worry about it, I just like to help people, or make them laugh (about half my posts on the way to resident status were in the Jokes Forum ::), some of them even made people laugh.... ;D).
I think for most people it doesn't matter, I treat everyone the same whether they're a new member or a hard core resident. If they have a question I can answer I do.
Probably why I ended up being a moderator, I opened my big mouth too often ::)
Its not how much you post, its what you post. Rifleman had to point out to me that I'd broken the 4000 barrier, I hadn't noticed 'cos I didn't care. Maybe when I hit 10000 I'll get a couple of bars of chocolate to celebrate talking too much ;D ;D ;D

I'll send you some fruit and nut when the big day happens Mark!!!

My take on things is that it is interesting to know how many post's someone has made but it ultimately means nothing.  At this time I have nearly 900 posts.  Some of them were helpful, some were silly and some I have to admit should be removed for shear stupidity but they are all from me (except the ones from Sarah before I persuaded her to get her own screen name).

You soon find out who you like to chat with on here and who is a complete moron and that is about compatability not quantity of posts.

No, the number of postings you have makes no difference at all.  A person with one posting has just as valid an opinion or is just as capable of giving good or bad advice as a person with 7319 (ahem, no names but his initials are ANDREW N.P. ESSELBACH!).  It's just fun.  It makes for some funny comments from time to time; nothing is there for people to be really competitive about so just sit back and enjoy it.  The whole subject is really a non-issue.

I agree with Ozzy and the others who said that the number of posts really doesn't matter, if I see something here that I feel like commenting on, I post a reply, sometimes I start a thread but not very often.
I just enjoy being a part of this community, I feel like I fit in here and can be myself.

Unless I am missing something, I don't think this is meant to be a race to see who reaches a certain number first, a little friendly rivalry is cool, but in fact, it's a bit childish to post a complaint about who has more stars or a higher number of posts anyways.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

As long as we're on the subject of things that are a pain in the neck; you know what's annoying?

I guess I'm a little late in this discussion, but like Ken pointed out, I just have to add something ;D

But I rarely if ever look at the number of posts people have.

Let's understand one thing - from day one, ANYone can be a "resident" - it's all on how the basic forum is set up.

you can have it set up for 1 post you're a member, 2 posts, you're a jr member, 3 posts.. and 5 posts you're a "resident"....

Going after the 5stars means nothing.  You can easily reach that by replying to every post with a "Huh?", "Good post", "Nice" ...   etc.

You can be a Jr Member and still be more "productive" than some "Resident"...

I know of one poster who is not even halfway to being a "Resident" but each of his posts are helpful, and to the point.

For example, at the new FFDS Forum, I've started each FFDS Associate as a "resident"  (Actually I call them "Hopeless Fanatics") with 500 posts each...
