fozzer was right about exercise

Postby Craig. » Sun Jul 27, 2003 9:02 am

it really could kill you.
i tried to pick up one of my 40lb dumbbells, and well i think i pulled a muscle or something as i have a seriously sharp pain through my chest and shoulder,  not even my medicine for my back, which is extremely strong has helped.  typing this with only right hand is a nuscience
youth of today rebel against exercise, it'll only end up killing you.
theres nothing wrong with being a couch potato.
and while sitting there if someone could fed-ex me something to stop this pain please do.

on a side note i am going to be searching for some baggage handling jobs up at bristol airport as a temp job before the new year. which hopefully will be pretty cool.

You've probably pulled a muscle! You should build up gradually not try and haul the biggest thing you can!
Working at the airport you'll be unlikely to handle things more than 20kgs (44 lbs), but that doesn't mean you should immediately try and lift this much.
If you don't train regularly you can do yourself a mischief, and it sounds like you have.
When I'm training for a big climb I start training months in advance and build up gradually until I know I can do the sustained exercises for longer than the climb will take me, then I'm fit enough.
As for the pain I'd recommend a couple of cans of Scrumpy Jack, I find this fixes most aches, and helps you relax the muscles and makes sleep easier. I find after 10 pints of it I sleep like a log for about 8 hours ;D

Get some rest and I hope you feel better soon

thanks ozzy:)
the problem is that is actually not heavy enough. i have been working with weights for years, and i am stuck as to space so i have to use the smaller dumbbells, i dont know if i just twisted funny when i went to pick it up or what but it hurts thats for sure:)
i dont get a chance to get to the gym enough either, so thats when i do have to be careful not to blitz it straight out.. i think that medicine is starting to kick in now anyway, gonna get some sleep with it.

I still think all this exercise is dangerous & completely unnecessary. A good brisk walk every morning would be just as good. A regular swim would be even better. If we were meant to be messing around with dumbells we would be born with them already fitted on the end of our arms. The name says it all to me. LOL

Craig and Ozzy...
I'm definitely with Hagar on this one, (apart from the Scrumpy Jack bit... ;)...)....... ;D...!
I told you before Craig, all this leaping about will do you no good at all, and you obviously aren't listening to me... ::)....!
I spend a lot of time resting, in between shopping, cooking and eating*, and apart from the fact that all my muscles now look like bits of string, I feel remarkably well, (not fit).... ;D...!
I visit my doctor every 25 years, and my records there look like a couple of leaves of medivel crisp parchment!
I'm a great believer in not wearing ones-self out... ;)...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers mates... ;D...!
Paul....off to have a lie down now... :)...!
(England)

*not to mention the Scrumpy Jack, which does wonders for happiness... ;D...!

P.S.  ..if you look at my picture below, you will notice that I am actually fast asleep, and it's only a broom-handle stuffed up my back which is keeping me up-right... ::)...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Just continue with the 12oz. curls, remember its not the weight. its the reps that count.

i really dont do this to impress anyone LOL:)
actually because of my body type and size, i have to hit the heavy weights, and i need to hit them hard, i can bench over 250lbs. but as one person said, its really isnt a competition as to how much you can lift, its about reps.
theres still a little pain in my shoulder but its pretty much gone now thank god.

Hi Craig...!
I'd be a bit worried about the "curls".
If I was you I'd just get a normal No. 1 haircut like the rest of the lads, otherwise some very dodgy sales "reps" will be chasing you around*.... :o...!

LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!
