A Beechcraft Barron crashed into Lake Ontario in heavy fog just off Toronto City Centre Airport at 10:00AM this morning. Visibility at the island was almost 0km after a morning thunderstorm in the Toronto area.
There is more info on the crash as well as a video on the story on the below sites.

There is a large debris field and an oil slick but the plane and pilot have not been found. It is uncertain if there were any passengers on the Chicago to Toronto flight. The airport needs at least 2 miles of visability for safe landings, even with the ILS. What puzzles me is why didn't the pilot redirect to Pearson Airport or Burlington Airpark, both near by and both with good visability at the time. There was no mayday or request to abort landing. I think something must have happened on board, maybe the pilot fell asleep at the stick (Chicago and Toronto is an long way in a Barron) or there was an instrument failure.
