Polio left my eyes "fixed" Straight ahead!
I have 20/20 vision but have to turn my
head to see to the sides, a no no for flying!!
The army did not see it as a problem!!
This is the only after effect of the polio
I had when I was 2 years old, I am very
lucky!!

I have had the opposite experience with eyesight.

I'm almost blind in one eye, but this is OK for most things including flying (PPL anyway), but none of the armed forces would touch me with a barge pole.
But I've managed to find myself (for better or worse) in action, without the help of the military.  ;D ;)

brensec;

The movement of the eye is what tells
the brain how far away an object is,
My eyes see a flat plane in front of me,
making even driving a car a bit of a problem,
I just keep plenty of space in front of me,
The screen on the FS is very real to me
because of this and about the limit of my
angle of vision. With a 22" screen I have to
move my head a bit to see all of it.
Also where you live can have a bearing
on passing the "test"
Maybe I could move to Outer Slovibigaki,
and be a airline piliot!! :P

10hrs in variouse light aircraft, C.172, Jodel, Tomahawk and SA Bulldog. Flew gliders  with the ATC for about a year. Took up skydiving a few months ago and am almost ready to apply to the RAF.

Currently don't hold a licence (nothing to do with certain stunts seen here!),

I can see Ozzy now...

I love Qantas' livery, and the service is great, same on SAA.  Just seems that with both liveries, they always look best on the 747's! ;D

I fly R/C and I believe that counts as real world experiance. RC aircraft are getting more complicated and more realistic every year. From actual turbojet engines to miniature autopilots that have the same capabilities as one on a commercial airliner would. They've evolved from simple toys to hightech models that are used from everything from surveylance (USAF's predator) and testing new full scale aircraft designs. If you still just think they are just toys, go to the Top Gun RC airshow, held every summer at West Palm Beach, Florida and then tell me what you think. I'm looking at a picture of a US Airways R/C A330, if I didn't know any better I'd swear it was real.
[center]I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. ;)

Ain't that the truth, Jets and  Onboard starters
I went to a fun fly, a couple of years ago, and a
fellow had a 1/3 scale Taylorcraft, his two year old
was sitting in it with the door closed!! :D
Didn't fly it though, with the kid in it!!

Me and a friend drove down to Spokane where they were. We were even able to walk around inside. My dream of sitting in a B-17 cockpit has finally been fullfilled! 8)

I took a ton of photos with my digital cam ;D

I see (pardon the pun ;D). Thanks for the explanation.
I know what you mean about the 'test' being different from place to place. But I suppose, in your case where it's a question of depth and perception, it would be critical.

Good Luck ;D ;)

You will be in good company with our good friend "Rifleman" here, he hails from Vancouver as well...!

Paul.
(England).

Correction Paul....not your fault though....most people think that Vancouver Island is Vancouver......the fact is, Vancouver is on the mainland and four hours away from where I live (Drive an hour, two hour ferry, and drive another hour).......Our town is called Courtenay, and is in the Comox Valley, on VANCOUVER ISLAND......... 8)
