That was so sad. Unfortunatly her killer is probably half way to Mexico by now. I signed the petition anyway.
Something needs to be done to stop these perverts. Not to sound too political so I won't get into detail, but unfortunately the Canadian Government is more concerned with less important things.

My ex partner concentrated her whole career in this area & I learned a thing or 2 over the years .. I'm also a dad ...

The main 2 points about publishing offenders names is that you drive them undergroud. They seek personal safety (you don't think they will stay put for a moment following publicity? .. .. errmmm .. no they don't .... ! ) & the police then lose track of them. The way things are now has been VERY carefully worked out from experience over many years. The police know where they are - they have to report in & their activity is monitored minutely.

The other aspect is that in any humane society encouraging the lynch-mob mentality - where the cotton brains in the neighbourhood take the law into their own hands - is simply cretinous ...

I believe that we have a law like that one in the US. Its called Megans Law. Any time a level 3 sex offender moves the police MUST notify the residents in the area. This is NOT ment for the residents to torment the S.O.(even though he should have his you-know whats cut off)  but to put the residents on notice to keep an eye on their children.

I hope, that if "Hollys Law" is like Megans law, it is passed in to law

As you can see there are pros and cons to these laws.  If you go to http://www.klaaskids.org/pg-legmeg.htm you will get a basic idea what this law is about, and there is a color coded map near the bottom.. You will notice that there are differnt ways that states releases info. In NYS where I live, in order to look at the list in my town, I have to fill out an on-line form so if I were to go and harrass an S.O. the state could use that against me.

"Anyone who uses this information to injure, harass, or commit a criminal act against any person may be subject to criminal prosecution."

Yew Andrew, ALL S.O.'s have to regester, but only the level 3's are the ones that the public is notified about.  

Its realy too bad that we almost have to have a gate, fence, leash, and a Lo-Jack sytem on our kids just so they can play in the back yard or even go to school

You know, I have worked around a lot of kids lately. A lot of nice looking ones too. These "nice-looking" kids are at a much higher danger of being molested. I have undergone some training in recognizing sexual abuse. Its supprisingly simple how it works. Its is scary. A lot of my students also have parents with a larger ammount of funds than other kids, which is another danger. Another factor is, I have several students who have one parent. This is the second most dangerous part.

Here is how it works

• A convicted child molester never only "strikes" once or twice. Usually, these smooth talkers do it about 100 times before they are caught, as most times a child will never say anything about it
• Most cases occur in single parent dwellings
• The average age of a molestor is - get this - 14
• Most molestors are boys or young men - rarely older men as shown and stereotyped by the media
• Most victims are young,  girls, between the ages of 3 years and 17 years of age
• Molestors are very smooth talkers
• Molestors tell the victims that they will protect them if they don't tell
• Molestors are careful not to be caught
• Molestors scare children by telling them bad things will happen to them or their parents if they tell anyone
• Most molestors are never caught
• Molestors attempt to "make-up" for molestation to the victim by buying toys, candy, food, gifts, or other items
• Molestors gain trust of the victims parents
• Most victims feel it is their own fault

Since there are a lot of kids here, I want you to all to be able to feel comfortable with talking to me, or someone else. I have dealt with several cases in the past, often being the only person to be told. I am willing to take time out of my day to help anyone here get out of this situation.
