Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel

For those who are looking for a pleasant change from FS, try Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel. I picked it up last night at Wal-Mart and I absolutely love it. It's only $20, so go buy it and tell me what you think!

Home of the three largest trucking
companys in the world.
I don't want to play trucks! ;)
But I hope you have a lot of fun
with your new program! ;D

I feel much better now ::)

Well, I live in Texas, not too far from AK, so we do see alot of trucking traffic through here, but I still like the game.  ;D

I was playing 18 wheels of steel quite a bit a while back, if you have a steering wheel with pedals and a shifter it is an especially cool driving game (or simulation really.) and if you don't have the steering wheel set up, it is worth investing in.
I'd say on the PC, 18 wheels of steel, along with F1 2002 are my favorite driving games.
Now you've got me thinking about re-installing it.
Definetly much better than the other hard truck games for sure, and compared to the lame-ass truck driving games for the consoles, 18 wheels of steel is "as real as it gets."

I've got a CH yoke and CH pedals, but they don't seem to want to cooperate with the game. I can't set up the brake and gas pedals. Is there any way to make this work? If not, how much does a wheel pedals and shifter cost, and where can I get them?

I would check on Ebay, I'm sure there are plenty of steering setups up for bid, or any place that deals in computer stuff should have wheels, Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, you can check their websites for prices.
I'm still using an old Nascar pro racing wheel that I bought probably 7-10 years ago, it works fine with XP.

Thanks, Paz. I looked at some of those sites and those prices are pretty high for the nicer ones. I think I'm just going to get a low-end wheel. By the way, any one happen to know how to make a CH yoke and CH pedals work? Also, Paz, did I convince you to reinstall it?

Well, this is the only game I am playing right now since FS no longer works. I am just waiting for ACOF. I read some of the reviews that the game got, and I was shocked to see the bad ratings.

I'm not completely sure as to why this is the case ::)
If I remember right, before FS2002 was released, there were a lot of bad & skeptical reviews. I also remember quite a few people questioning wether or not they should just stick with FS2000. The same thing happened to CFS3 for a lot of people.

I'm convinced that most of the negative reviews for FS2004 were written by biased people who had nothing more then a bad aftertaste in their mouth.

You're probably right, Andrew. Hard Truck also got real bad ones, but I love it, and I'm sure te sae will go for FS ACOF.
