Finally soloed

Postby ryan2005 » Sun Mar 19, 2006 10:12 pm

soloed last friday. we did 5 touch and goes and then the Instructor asked me if a wanted to solo and I thought about it as we taxied to the ramp and I said I would. I was so nervous on the first touch and go but after that I felt so much better.    There was a slight crosswind 50 degrees off the runway at 11 knots but here in Iowa its always windy so im used to crosswinds.

Congratulations. :)

Your instructor actually asked you if you wanted to solo?  Everyone I've heard said their instructor just hopped out without saying anything beforehand, including mine.  Must have made that taxi a little nerve racking. ;D ;) 8)

Yeah, I think my Instructor knew I was ready but wanted to know if I wanted to wait for a less windy day.

Congrats Ryan. I just flew my first solo a few months ago. Great feeling isn't it?

My instructor asked me too, in fact he made no secret of the fact that everything we were doing that day was leading up to soloing. I think he just wanted to make sure that I was completly ready for it instead of just dropping it on my suddenly.
