Throat Mic

Postby Drake_TigerClaw » Wed Oct 26, 2005 11:27 pm

Well basically I'm looking for a throat mic headset, and well... there just dont seem to be many around. I've found a few old military models that probably only work in military planes. Basically I'm asking if anyone knows where to get a set.

Why do you need one? Maybe there's an alternative...

Depending on their age you should be able to purchase a plug to convert NATO military headset jacks to a civil (seperate) mic and headphone jack

I dont actually need one I just want one. The other thing I'm looking for is a Soviet AirForce hat in a size 63 but Cold War hats are hard to find in large sizes.

But the advangages to a throat mic are pretty cool, it pics up your voice clearly in high noise invironments and you are sure to come in loud and clear. Also you dont need to adjust some mic boom in your face you just strap the thing to your neck. The only problem is throat mics are mainly used by the military and have not cought on to the civilian market until recently. You can get some for cell phones now. The problem is finding aviation grade headsets.

its also extremely uncomfortable, especially during the combat, when pilots have difficulty breathing.
might want to check this site.. i dont think he sells any, but if he has an extra one he can probably trade it: http://chameloon.free.fr/

he actually has one available: http://chameloon.free.fr/en/trades_en.htm but as you said, its a military plug. U should be able to easily find a plug to convert it to GA
