Where did the stars go??

Postby calicoman » Thu Jan 17, 2013 1:13 pm

After flying to every country in my world atlas I have been on hiatus for a while. Just built a new computer and got back into flying. I have been flying since the days of Bruce Artwick and win 95. Now that I have a computer (and win7) that can handle fsx my biggest complaint is that when flying at night there are few if any stars visible. Those that are are so dim that you can hardly see them. Never had this with many earlier versions where the night sky was alive with stars and you could easily pick out big dipper etc.
Earlier i tried perfsky in win xp but that did not help. Have tried different resolutions, but no success. Suggestions welcome.

try adjusting the gama setting in the comps video setting. make small adjustments cause you can effect color too.

Hi calicoman, and welcome to Sim V. Go to your main FSX folder and you will find a file named stars.dat . Open the file using notepad, scroll down a bit and you will find this line,

; intensity of stars without explicit color in Star Locations table
Intensity=230
.

Just change the intensity number to what ever suits you best. I can't give you and exact number because all
