F-35B Questions

Postby BobF » Tue Jan 01, 2013 11:53 pm

1) I noticed that I can use the aileron trim switch to increase and decrease the forward speed while hovering. I can get the plane to backup. Will the real F-35B backup?
2) The doc says that the real F-35 can get up to 1.67 M. I can get 589 kts at 30,000 ft. which is not 1.67 M.

3) The manual says you must decrease the wt. to 40,600 # for VTOL operation. I can takeoff at max. wt. (not 40,600 #) Why?

In the old version 42,000 # or less was necessary.

Thanks, Bob.

The real plane does back up, forward, side to side, spin on its axis... basically everything a Harrier can do... but also go supersonic.

589kts is roughly 677mph. But one problem with FSX has always seemed to be to replicate speed accurately. I'll try it and see what I can get out of it.

Changed hovering mode weight limit to 40600lbs (was 42000) according to the latest official data
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I just did a VTOL takeoff at 53,525#. I remember on the old version that I had to use the fuel dump mode to get down to 42,000 #before I could do a VTOL. I am asking why I can do a VTOL at that weight?

Another question is that I use auto-coordination as I don't have a twist joystick. I programmed two keys to do a yaw right and left but I don't get very good control. It's too coarse. I don't see any yaw center function. I tried using rudder trim but it did not work for rotation or heading in VTOL flight. Any suggestions? Regards, Bob.
