talk-em down

might be nice to have an addon for fsx, where the pilots of a large jet become incapacitated, and you, with no experience, and with the guidance of the control tower, have to land the plane...........

probably a dumb thing anyways....seems it's likely impossible for an ignorant to land a jumbo with the guidance from the control tower ...only in the movies....gads i'm gullible ....

Good evening yancovitch... ;)

I do believe this is what you are referring to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-controlled_approach

We flew them regularly in the Air Force.

I remember one that comes to mind...

The Daks/DC3/C47 wheels touched down just as my copilot called Runway Visual... ;D

What is really neat is when you are plodding along and you can hear the ice coming off the props and hitting the fuselage.
The windscreen is iced up...you are on instruments...
And it sounds like someone is outside the aircraft hitting the fuselage with a hammer... ;D

And all you have is the voice coming through the headphones saying things like...
...Roll Left Now
...Roll Out Now
...You are on Glideslope

I have had different GCA Controllers use different techniques such as...
...Turn Left Three Degrees Now
...You are looking good...On Course...On Glideslope

Aviators and GCA Controllers work well together if they are both on the same wave link which does not take long once initial contact is made.

The old girl and I fly now with a current, licenced aviator who wants to build hours and likes the places we stop to eat at... ;D

I always seem to pay for the meal also... :P

I/we would not even consider IFR Flight without an Instructor or current licenced aviator with us.

Hope you find that Link of some interest... ;)

Following Yan's idea for for the Flight Sims, the nearest to that would be the built-in Flying Lessons used in FS 2004 (and FSX?).

But that is a special, stand-alone, Microsoft program, and not part of the default FS 2004/FSX Simulator.

I don't know of an add-on, Commercial Flight Sim Program, which would fully cater for such an emergency event.

Paul.... 8-)...!

Goodly morning all... :)

This is not exactly what you are looking for yancovitch but it might add a little more realism to your simulated flights... :)

That sorta thing would be right up my alley.

Anything bigger than a Gulfstream and Ima landing-on-the-runway challenged still. :o

While me and a 707 can land "at" the airport, we are not exactly adept at apropriating a runway centerline at this point in my FSX "career". ::)
