They look good but they might take a major hit on frame rates to show that kind of detail. 8-)

I just tried Rise-of-Flight (Demo), and on default settings, it turned into a juddery slide-show on my hardware!
Windows 7, 32-bit.
P4 2.8 GHz Dual Processor.
nVidia GF 9500 GT 1GB Video RAM.
2.5 GB System RAM.

I haven't got the patience...
Time to un-install...
..back to FS 2004 and CFS 2.... ;)...!

Paul... :)...!

I can only suspect that ROF, similar to FSX, is either heavily Central Processor dependant, or Graphics Card dependant.....or both!

Yes, the sim is demanding on system requirements, but when you got that you'll see why. The scenery/flight you get is something extraordinary.

Wish i could show it to you.

Assuming that you have purchased Rise-of-Flight, it would be interesting to know what your present Computer hardware installation is, to enable the Sim to run smoothly at high settings?

It certainly wont run on my existing Hardware, on any settings!

Its performance is similar, or worse than my FSX, (which is mostly unexciting!)

I imagine that; "water effect", will bring the Sim to a grinding standstill!

(The Demo version restricts what hardware/game settings you can apply to the Sim).

Paul...FS 2004... 8-)...!

I have it running on the same rig as FSX and performs much better, better even than flights performance. I think it's down to the code being much more efficient than FSXs. I can't comment on fs2004 as I never had it, I made the jump from FS98 (which I still have) to FSX.

Ok, Fozzer, here's my system:

i7-950 quad Core 3-4Ghz
2 x MSI 460 black hawk 1Gb Gddr5 in sli (less will do)
6Gb Corsair 2000Mhz Ddr3
All well cooled.

I dont max things out even if i could, but i spend long time to find the right settings for my eyes. That goes for fsx too.

I'll try to make some pics, but i need to get a workaround for that. Its not as easy as in fsx.

That explains it... :o...

You have one of those newfangled Super-Dooper Computers from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories in Southern California.... :o...!

Me... ::)...

I just struggle along on my 1995, Pentium P4 2.8 GHz Dual (on a good day) Central Processor, and a cheap-'n-cheerful nVidia GF 9500 GT, 1 GB Graphics card... :-*..!

Works wonders for FS 2004.... :D...
..... but is a bit of a no-no, when it comes to FSX (and ROF!)... ::)...!

Paul...With a Cheap-n' Cheerful FS 2004...
...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower... ;D...!

Graphics look good, but on the same account, they MUST be osmium heavy.

While FSX (forever confined to the kid's use and mercy) on medium settings, after the activation o the second CPU core usage, goes smooth enough (if you don't use too detailed aircrafts), I don't think my middle-to-low range Athlon X2 64 6000 with its plucky but not quite latest fashion Gefo 9500 GT DDR III 512Mb would make that graphic more than a fast(ish) slideshow.

That and RoF remains more a game of fighting first war planes more than a simulator, no matter how accurate it may look.

Do not write to challenge WITH WORDS what I wrote on the paragraph above, you're only torturing your keyboard uselessly. Rather SHOW ME a Boeing 747 (or any kind of other post WWII liner, propeller or jet powered, your choice) in flight under RoF and I will make act of public contrition, admit I was a fool, publicly apologize and admit I was wrong.

Well, i remember our last talk about RoF, and i'm not surprised you get in here again, talking sim or not sim! ::)

I didn't start this thread about that, but just wish to show how other makers can MAKE waters.

I dont wish to challenge you in any way, but my keyboard is mine, and i do with it what i want ;)

My 1995 Pentium P4, 2.8GHz Processor, and GF 9500 GT Grafix Card, had a brave go at it, and failed dismally, (even without the water effect!), and as I am more into gentle General Aviation rather than shooting and bombing things, to save space on my HDD I decided to un-install it.
..it wasn't really my cup of Tea anyway!.. ;)...!

The water effects demo would be more suited to a Benchmark Program...>>>
http://www.3dmark.com/
Goodness knows how it would affect all the other goings-on, in a complete Flight Simulator/Game!
I dread to think what the frame rates would be in the heat of battle!

Paul....Back to gentle aviation!... :)...!
