As soon as I fire up my Flight Sim, I have to cycle all my (Saitek Joystick) controls, including the throttle, through their full travel a few times, before starting the engines, otherwise they could be wildly out, and the aircraft uncontrollable!
...and as U4 states, the new aircraft often picks its settings from the previously used aircraft!

I fing that very interesting Fozz as I have a Saitek Yoke and throttle quadrant plus a saitek AVR8 joystick (which is only used for rudder control as I have no pedals) and have never had to cycle anything (appart from my cycle of coarse, which advancing years mean I don't ride very often!)
Perhaps you have some noisy pots (I can't spell potentiometer.)

Hello Zaph....

I don't think the OP stated his controls Yoke/Joystick

..but with my; "Saitek Cyborg Evo Force" stick of Joy, I have to perform that ritual every time I fire up my Sim, or the settings are all haywire!
I have to reset/cycle them all back to neutral before I press the Start Button!
It never occurred with all my other Joysticks.

The settings remain at the last movement after I switch off the Sim. (on a loose Force feed-back Stick, the control can be in any position, (floppy), at start-up!), they don't automatically centralise!
