[quote]Thanks to all the great responses. It helped out a lot. My graphics drivers are about 6 months old. Should I update them? (I know its a dumb question, so just humour me, OK, thanks), or I can still play FSX? The new edition is just fine.

In other words, can I install the new version of FSX, and then do an update graphics drivers? You

Yes, you can update your driver anytime you want.
But, again, save the one you got just in case the new aint running as you want.

what did I do wrong some one who went through installing fsx gold edition let me know.

I thought this  was made for w7 it asks for compatibility xp. I thought just installed in w7 under x86 files and up and flying no not now.hey just installed  the gold edition but under xp mode; as it was installing  2 little boxes pop up one says auto play did not know anything about this so I closed it the other says dvd check and I clicked on that other than that it installed ok I have activated the fsx gold and it did ok also. went to play theres no sound and something about changeing to w7 basic colors for the game and then try to play it says not responding. then I changed to compatibility mode wxp sp3 did not take gold ediditon swiched to xp sp2 have not try flying yet. the acceleration I did after the gold editiion is installed like the directions says  now whats wrong with it is I cannot activate the acceleration section. the opening scene of the gold edition  pops  but also the activation reminder for the accerelation so I'm stuck. what gets me there  NO sound thats stupid new game and no sound thats like selling  a fsx game disk that is blank.

and the product key has been registered and it can only be used once; I just lost money on this  it should have installed under w7 without any trouble and without asking bunch of stupid questions like auto play and a dvd check should not  to do that if  it was installing under w7 and the w7 basic colors should not have to ask that also. I thinki this game is full of bugs now if I want another one I need to buy again. the company  will not exchange it for a new one

Now we need to clear somethings out. You got some conflicts.
Did you get acc.pack on cd or is it a dl?
If its a cd, you should not get any popups, if you have installed fsx default (c drive, programs x86, microsoft games, fsx) the install should find. If you got it elsewhere, you need to point it where fsx is. The pack need to be inside fsx not anywhere else!
There should not be any question about compability. That is something you can do after install, by rightclicking the game on desk or .exe file.
What have you installed before the acc.pack?
The code is not a "oner", you can use for good.

I have screwed up my FSX/Accel more than a few times and had to reinstall and reregister each time.  I've never had a problem with product key registration each time, which is probably a half-dozen or so times over the last couple of years.

Have you tried MS customer service/support to assist with your key difficulty?

hello to the both of you I tried to make response  as clear as I can make it hope you understand my response

to the both of you thanks for the response: I got the gold edition working. the microsoft server I guess was down. and late last night I activated  my acceleration pack with the product key. and it is good to go.now lets go flying. now since I jumped over one hurrdle and now about to jump over another how to get the planes into fsx gold with w7. xp was a little easier to access the fsx aircraft files and paste the planes in its right spot but  with w7 it may be more difficult. and for u4ea I have tryied ms but they were closed for the weekend (sunday). and for bass: acc. pk did come with the gold edition I have disk 1,2, 3. and 3rd as beeing the acc. pk. and I have installed as default c drive x86, microsoft games (fsx). it turns out that the pop ups was my security system asking me what to do thats all that was.

and once again the acc pk has been activated and I can access my fsx gold and everything is fine for now

it seems like the acc pk activation screen was blocking me for opening up fsx gold. but since the acc pk been activated its okm now. I can get ready and fly see you up in the clouds.

I got my gold edition up and running it is  but 3 things are bothering me one it the little box thatt asks me you need administrators rights to down load this plane is there a way around this? so it does not ask me and installs the planes, jets automactically in to fsx.  number 2. I have downloaded a cam sim 789 v4 aa it asks me for adminstrators rights I need this to be turned off and let the w7 automaticlly install into fsx. number 3 how can I access all the  fsx files airplanes, effcts and so on? I cannot find them.

I seemed to forgot how to install a jet I extracted all and a folder is on my desk top now do i put this into the planes section and effects folder under effects. would some would like to refresh my memory?

If you're not an administrator, see this
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows- ... ows-vista/

About installing, well, thats why i suggest all downloads being saved, so you can read the read me files.

The aircraft goes into c-program files x86- microsoft games-simobjects-airplane.
Open effects folder copy all and paste into effects, do the same with gauges.
Be carefull with scenery and textures, there you really can mess things up.
Good luck ;)

You need to say "yes" if you want admin rights, and you'll get a new admin login at start up. If you installed your OS, you should be admin, but if you unchecked admin rights under installation, you're not. Therefor you need to get the rights.
Understand me?

Note. If you run compability modes, check the run as admin!
