UKMIL Blackburn Buccaneer Ailerons

Postby Icy » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:14 am

I just took this plane out for a spin and I noticed there was only one real problem...
Is it just me or are the ailerons moving opposite what they are supposed to?

(In this shot I rolled the plane to the right (clockwise)...)

Don't get me wrong, I like this plane a lot...
But does anyone know of a fix for this issue?

Hi Icy.
Do you know you're absolutely right! I never noticed it before.
Might help if you posted a question over at the UkMil forum.
Keep us posted ;)

Could someone do that for me? (I kinda don't know how to get on to their forums/ I am really lazy right now...)

Is there is something I can do to it without any kind of special prerequisites?

V3.3 of the Buccaneer is posted on the UKMIL website. http://www.ukmil.org.uk/download.php?view.648

It's free but you have to register to download it. Note that I haven't tried it & don't know if the aileron animation has been fixed.

No.

Just downloaded and installed V3.3 and the ailerons still appear to move in the wrong direction! Very odd.
Still a gorgeous aircraft though.

I've posted an enquirey over at the Ukmil forums. We'll see what comes of that, and I'll let you know.

OK..Thanks to the very prompt help of Gaffer over at UKmil there is a new MDL available to download which fixes the problem. You need to go to the support forums, Model support, find the forum for the Buccaneer then follow the thread about "Buccaneer Ailerons". The fix is linked in the thread.

Zaphod.

Edit.
I've just checked the thread this morning and the link to the new MDL has been removed but it looks as though the fix may have been applied to the main download.

Edit, edit.
The link is now at the bottom of the post. I think you'll need to register (no biggy) to be able to access the forums.

I'm sorry Icy but I really can't help with your gmail account.
The "Gaffer" who modified the MDL over at UkMil and which fixes the problem said that he had also modified the whole download to include the new MDL. Whether that includes the download here at SimV I don't know but it might be worth downloading it again and using the MDL from the new download to see if that works for you.
Other than that I'm out of ideas.

Could someone ask him to re-upload it here too? (assuming that isn't too much work... sorry for being such a bother)

Hi all !

Just so happens that I downloaded the Buccaneer yesterday
- preparing a new "Views for the...." package ! - and yes the ailerons problem is still there meaning the package is not the latest release.

Have a nice day !

I e-mailed UKMIL about the reversed ailerons issue and have just got this reply (Thurs June 14th) from admin[at]ukmil[dot]org[dot]uk -

"Thanks for the email, but I have fixed the issue in the latest version at UKMIL"

The real issue here, as I see it is that ICY, for whatever reason is unable to register at UkMil and therefore access the "Fix" or the complete new download.
I would recommened that Icy contact UkMil which I believe he can do from their homepage via the support tab and without the need to register. Perhaps then he can sort out his registration issue and access the download.

I'm sure you're right. I have the same problem. This is the cause of it.

UKMIL NO LONGER ACCEPTS FREE WEB BASED EMAIL ACCOUNTS FOR REGISTRATIONS http://www.ukmil.org.uk/page.php?59

Unfortunately this includes AOL which is my ISP.

We unfortunatly had to ban AOL accounts too, as they are given away free. We appreciate that people with AOL as their ISP are effected, but were currently have no way of working around that.

Good suggestion but I'm not confident they can fix it. :-/

The best solution would be for them to upload the latest updated files here at Simviation.
