Eye Candy

Postby scottidog594 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 12:42 pm

Hi all. Im a long time reader and first time poster on this forum. I have been flying in FSX for a very long time now and im finding myself wanting more and more. I was just wondering if anybody could recommend a good freeware mod to make my sim look better? e.g mesh, clouds, weather etc.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

REX (Real Environment Extreme)
GEX (Ground Enviroment Extreme)

Tileproxy...

Also, any of the Aerosoft City sceneries are excellent, if you can spare the frame rates.

If you ask me, I want extra detail nothing that makes FSX too much different. So I personally like:

Active Sky Evolution and/or Flight Environment X
Ultimate Traffic X
Ultimate Terrain X
Ground Envinronment X

EDIT - personal note I think tileproxy lacks the scenery and the seasonal variance and REX makes it look so weird like you're flying in a sci-fi

Hi. Thanks but thought these were payware? With the new microsoft sim on its way im reluctant to spend more money having already spent a bomb on aircraft from just flight.

They ARE payware.
But REX does have some freeware stuff.

And I wouldn't get the new 'simulator',not good I heard+it costs $20 for 2 aircraft and the hawaiian islands. :o

Oh and BTW,I also use Flightsim water configurator, texture max load editor and freeware ORBX scenery.

Here's the link for the Texture Max Load Editor. This allows FSX to display the high def textures without having to manually edit your FSX Cfg. file.

EDIT
I'm not sure, but I think ENB Bloom comes with the above mentioned HDE package. This is also a worth while addon. It allows you to disable your default bloom and the new effect looks a lot better IMO and doesn't affect performance.

NOT AFFECT PERFORMANCE???

I call from 20 to 6 FPS a decrease!

Oh and BTW,go to the link in daube's description for HDE bloom,it isn't in the HDE pack I think...

EDIT:Oh sorry,I think  thats a modded version of the bloom,I'll check it out.
