Very Light Jet route planning

Postby Dave71K » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:45 am

I'm not sure if this is in the right section so feel free to move it.

I was wondering when it comes to light jets with very low approach speeds such as the Citation Mustang/ Paris Jet/ Phenom 100, how to they arrive at an airport?

They seem to slow to be flying SIDS and STARS but a bit fast to be in a traffic pattern with a Cessna 172.

So I was just wondering how in the real world they arrive at an airport?

Any comments would be great  ;)

Most corporate aircraft tend to avoid the hub airports that the SID/STARS are established for, instead choosing smaller reliever airports in the same city.  If they were flying these arrivals, they would maintain the speed necessary until on final approach, where they would slow to their respective approach speeds.  Same way a CRJ and a 747 can fly the SID/STAR, even though they have drastically different approach speeds.
