Nice airport, right runway, ILS - allways a bite to the side... Why?

Postby multiprops » Sat Feb 11, 2012 8:41 pm

It happens all the time when landing ILS in the runway further to the right in Nice airport (there are 2 runways running roughly west-to-east). When following the glideslope it deposits me very smoothly.... 100 yards to the right of the runway! This does not happens in the left runway or in other airports. Also it does this with several airplanes (connie, electra... etc) Just in the R runway at Nice. Is it me? Is it my PC or my FSX damaged?  Or does it happens with someone else? Some feedback would be reassuring... :)

Hey, at least it is just one airport for you, at least 90% in NA and Europe are that way for me. The angles are also off for me!

I've noticed this too
What I think it is, is the ILS transmitter is located to the side of the runway, about 20-30 Meters to the side.

Nothing broken, just the localizer antenna is not correctly placed in FSX.

Real world charts show that the LOC for Rwy 4R is offset. Rwy heading is 045* while the LOC heading is 043*. FSX got this part right.

Viewing LFMN in Google Earth the LOC antenna is located to the left of the runway which, with the 43* heading, would bring you over the threshold.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thank you all for the feedback - at least I know is not only me...

I have to admit that I count too many times on the ILS to put me down in the runway  ::)  I really have to buy myself a joystick, pronto!  :)
