Abbey's Area 51 Scenery Add-on

Postby adkleaddog » Tue Nov 01, 2011 9:10 am

Ok, don't shoot me but:

I've added many scenery packages with no prob, I downloaded the file, unzipped and used the program to load the file that came with the file....

Usually there's a read me to assist, but not included with this. I remember that FSX and Win 7 had a special way to add the file to the scenery library. I forgot!  :-[

There's two files, texture and scenery dated today in the add-on file in FSX.....

How do I properly add this file (Area 51) to FSX?

Thanks in advance!

After what appears to have been a successful load of the scenery, I get the following upon starting FSX:

"SCENERY.CFG File error Invalid remote scenery path in area 115, click ok to continue."

I had a good few flights, but not near that area.  Everything seems to work ok, but I haven't tried to fly near the area.

Whats up?  :-?   How do I fix?

Still getting the error, after deleting the scenery file.

Any ideas?  :-?

I guessing you made sure it's unchecked in the add-on scenery add/delete scenery page.

When you installed it, you said you used the "installer that came with it"  Do you mean an auto-installer? If so, there should be an "uninstall".  If it does, and you tried that, try installing again, but take note of where the auto-installer installed your first attempt, exit the installer, and check where the installer installed it, and see if there is anything there, then manually delete anything it added.

Thanks Boikat!

I uninstalled the entire package, deleted any remaining files and reloaded...I got few messages that some of the objects were "missing".

So far so good!

I'll try a flight and let you know how it went!

Maybe it was a result of a bad download?

Well,

The error message is gone when stating FSX...but...

I load a default 737, at AR51 and it looks good then I get a message that says something similar. There's a Seahawk that's probably supposed to be there and apparently it's not!

I looked in the addon file, I have a bunch of prior airport upgrades that work fine, and there's two new files, a texture and a scenery. There is no single file with a AR51 name or the like. ???  Should there be?

I'll delete once again, download and try to reinstall the scenery, unless anyone has some insight!  I'll wait a bit......

As always, thanks!

When you install it, when thw autoinstaller says it's going to install it at "where-ever", use the brows and create a folder someplace, like on your desktop, and install it to that folder, then manually install the contents of that folder like a regular add-on scenery package. That way you know everything the installation would have done which may have caused the problem in the first place.
