Sound issues (or rather the stupid thing MS did with the sound)

Postby Huge » Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:25 am

So I was getting bored with just looking round the VC and outside views on a flight from Heathrow to JFK, and decided to open up itunes to put on some Wagner (nothing like landing a 747 to Die Valkure) but as soon as I switch back to FSX, it fades to barely audible. Now I appreciate that I need to hear things, so I asumed that's why they provided volume sliders for everything. I turn up the music to max (scaring the cat), switch back to the game, and the same thing happens.... The only way I can get the music back is to turn the game sound completely off... which, is obviously useless.

I couldn't see an option in the sound settings to disable this "feature", so can I remove the option in FSX.cfg?

Press "Q" a few times (the sound mute for FSX if you have it in default for that feature)and it should go back to normal. ;)
I don't need a Sign.....wait......Damn!

have you checked to make sure that you have the latest sound card drivers?

the latest iTUNES program?

I can run WeeTune Beasty (Sky Blue Radio - www.skyblueradio.com), Youtube, AND Windows Media Player all at the same time listening to CRAP as it comes out of my headphones, and still barely hear the sounds of the engines in FSX.

I do not have iTUNES so i can not help you there.  Do you have FSX sp1 & 2? Are you trying to use a USB Headset and separate the sounds from FSX going to the computer speakers, and music to your headphones? What Sound card do you have installed in the computer????????

I often have "Live ATC" running in the background with my FS 2004, especially if I am around KLAX during a busy day!

I match the overall volumes to suit.

It all works fine.
