Gauges for Fs98 or Earlier

Postby michaelb15 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 11:28 am

A lot of downloaded planes gauges' have this problem.. It seems to be a large problem, with a large portion of downloads..

What can be done about it..

Also the Cloud-propeller thing.. can anything be done about that?

Hi

Yes a lot of FS2004 aircraft are contain gauges that are not compatible with FSX.

The only solution is to get an updated version of your required aircraft (there are many) the gauges replaced.

What particular aircraft are you referring to?

theres quite a few.. Im not on my computer that has fsx, and I dont remember every plane that has issues.. I gotta write them down as im flying.. but one that I can think of right now of the top of my head I was dissapointed in is the Piper Apache off of this site. quite a few gauges are missing, and it makes the plane unusable for me. Which really sucks, becuase otherwise its a brilliant looking AC, and I would love to fly many hours in it, if it worked properly..

As ive said this is a huge issue with I would say at least 35% of the planes I download have gauge issues, even though i ttry to be very carfull and selective with the AC I download (always try to make sure it has a VC, and moving parts, transparent windows, ya kno.. the hole kit, nothing half***)

35%? That's just simply not true if you are downloading from the FSX section.

Give a specific file as an example. Then I or someone can advise you.

As a rule I always look for the newest aircraft to download, I go by date when searching for a particular aircraft. Something that says "made for FSX SP2 or Acceleration" will have good gauges, usually a VC and mostly decent graphics & animations. Ported over FS9 A/C sometimes do but often do not.

The only Sadler ultralights I found on SimV are in the FS2004 download section. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Sadler+UltraLight&categoryId=

[quote]Ok a specific example would be the Saddler UltraLight from here.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Search 'piper apache'
This is the result

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... he&x=9&y=8

I tested the FSX versions (both). No FS98 gauges. No incompatible gauges. All gauges show up and the whole aircraft in both cases are great.

Here is the VC ....

You must be using files from other sites or simply downloading files from the FS2004 section.

Simviation files are checked. Clarified. Fixed if necessary (often by me - 10's 1000's of times) and linked to any required files. Our files work out of the box in almost all cases (if you genuinely find a problem file we will always fix it or delete it or edit the file if it is, for instance , FSX Acceleration specific)

This is a prime example of our files being OK.

As ive said this is a huge issue with I would say at least 35% of the planes I download have gauge issues

Once again -- total and utter ... rubbish. Not true to any degree. Way less than 5% .. & way less than that.

Ok a specific example would be the Saddler UltraLight from here.

Can you please give a link? I can't find this.

Edit: Thanks Dave3cu. (Sadler - not Saddler) This is a FS2004 Aircraft and NOT from the FSX section!

35%.   hmm lets do some math. If I download 3 airplanes, 33.33% of that would be 1 plane.   that means, by HIS measurements, 1 in 3 are faulty.   while this could be true of the FS2004 planes, that were made for FS2004 and were not converted already, if you download from the FSX section, there might be 1 in 20 that have a problem, and that would only be 1 or 2 gauges missing, not 1/2 or 3/4 of the gauges missing as suggested.

There is nothing you can do about FS98 gauges in FSX except delete them and replace them with FS2004/X gauges.

As far as the props, that is a MODEL issue. Unless you have the source codes, you cant do anything.

ok so I realoded the piper apache so take a SS of what it looks like, and now, wadda ya kno it works.. So I dont know what happened with it the first time, but it didnt load before.

but upon further testing heres another prime example of what happens to a lot of aircraft I have (that 35%)

Heres the plane.. its from the fsx section
http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... P&x=8&y=11

Heres the Virtual cockpit
Image

the gauges that are missing are "fs 98 or before"

I will take more ss in future with more of the planes this is happening with if its needed.

But yea I hope there is some sort of help to be had  :) ::)

Thansk . That file has now been deleted.

The correct FSX version is here

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... p&x=10&y=2

As always if a rogue file is found it is either fixed or deleted.

But if you download FSX aircraft you will find very few with problems. If you load FS2004 a/c into FSX yes it is hit or miss. If the gauges are cab files you will probably find they work.
