Planes go to the right on take off

Postby kenuck » Sat May 07, 2011 8:48 pm

Using downloaded military Jets, after engine startup, when aftburn for take off is applied, the aircraft "shoot" off to the right, Im a nooby so its more than likely my set up fault, any ideas folks, TIA for replies

Check to see if you got a saved flight with the auto pilot on.

No saved flights, at least not yet, Auto pilot, well I guess I,ll find out to use one eventually, but right now, it,s a case of me keeping it simple, the problem is not that serious, its just that after engine start and i gun them up for take off, for some reason they wanna go to the right accross the fields, ive just been letting them go untill rotate time, once in the air theyre fine

If these aircraft have multiple engines make sure they're all fully spooled up before taking off.

On a 2 Engine craft I hit the "ctrl + E " twice, they appear to fire up ok, the problem comes to the fore when I "Gun" them up for take off, the Aft burners come on ok, but as soon as the aircraft mooves off they all go sharp right, Ive tried holding the stick all the way left, that doesnt work as they go out of control, so, Ive just let them go accross fields, through fences and whatever else might get in the way, they do at the end of the day  take off ok, I would much prefer to stay on the runway though, hahahaha  aint it fun even without any dials etc in the Tornado Im flying

You should only need to press Ctrl + E once. The engines should start in sequence. This could take a while. Give them both time to spool up.

I hate to ask but which Tornado is this? Why are the gauges missing?

The AB effect on the IRIS Tornado is activated by throttle position irrespective of whether the engines are running or not. This makes me suspect that my suggestion is correct. You're not giving engine #2 time to start up before taking off.

Excellant input , I will check the and follow through with all the points raised as suggested, the Tornado is the IRIS TornadoGR4_X, There are a number of "models", so far Ive only use one, ( I will make a not of it), its more than likely the set up Ive done, from the cockpit you cant see out, the screens are black/grey, cheers

You can download my own fix for the VC here ---> vc_glass.zip
Paste the included texture into all the Texture folders of the Tornado overwriting existing files when prompted..

Hi Kenuck,

I've installed the same package and on take off roll it's tracking dead straight so assume you have something wrong with rudder trim or maybe only one engine running, although Tornado engine are central you don't get the same yaw effect as you would with wing mounted engines with a 'dead' engine.

I too get missing gauges on the VC, the mfd's are missing, only black sections where they would be.

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

Also check your default aircraft, (hasn't been mentioned yet) and make sure your payload and fuel are balanced out. If you have too much fuel on one side in your default craft it will still make any other aircraft you choose react in the same manner. Just a thought...

OK people, Ive gone through the "check list" in settings and deleted the key controls, also, Hagar, Ive done the "thing" with your file and it works great, so far so good, NOW, I assume youve all heard of "MURPHY,S LAW" HAHAHAHAHA well, I saved my last flight and made it as my default, NOW regardless of which kite I use, there she is, sitting on the tarmac with ENGINES RUNNING, and they DONT turn right, unbelievable, anyway, Ive taken the tips with regards throttle on take off, and also the tips on landing, so the local Air commador has promoted me from garbage collection to Chief tire blower upper, thanks guys

Just to add another tip, when starting a multi-engine aircraft using Ctrl+E both engines will start in the order required by that particular plane. If you interrupt that sequence, like pressing Crtl+E twice, it will sometimes interrupt the start-up and the engines will not be synchronized. This sometimes will make aircraft pull to the right when accelerating, even at slow speeds on the ground.

To synchronize the engines, according to FSX, press Ctrl+E,1,2 and if more engines,3,4. I sometimes have had to do this a couple of times for it to work but usually just once.
Take Care,
Brett

Just re- reading the comments and the general great input, I didnt answer the question about the "joystick" Im using, its the Logitech Attack 3 model, an oldie from way back in the FS 98 days, Im open for suggestions on a replacement, Im finding this a bit heavy for these fly by wire aircraft, one over touch right or left and your barraleing all over the place....Cheers
