Another problem to sort out!

Postby whitley » Sat Mar 26, 2011 4:24 am

With one or two FS9 aircraft that are supposed to be useable in FSX I have encountered a problem (I did see a post about the same problem but can't find it again).

In the 2d panel view the lower part of the panel remains on the screen when I pan round or view from outside and everything goes widescreen and elongated.

Could some please tell me the cure, or point me to the post that metioned this problem. Thanks.

Open Panel.cfg of the offending aircraft in Notepad. Look for this entry.

render_3d_window=1

Either change the value to 0 or delete the line. There might be more than one so make sure you get them all.

Thank you Hagar, will try that now.

I can't use the aircraft yet because some of the gauges are too old for FSX, but I found a second hand copy of FS Panel Studio at a car boot sale (I am fairly certain it is not a fake), but it not installed yet.

That was a bit of luck. 8-)

As a matter of interest which aircraft is it?

I have had the panel problem with  a few aircraft I have transferred from FS9 to FSX, but the one I was specifically reffering to was the  AS' Short Belfast.

The edit worked a charm (I edited the entry to 0 rather than deleting it) but I have encountered a minor problem with the pan view. If I look left, right etc. I get a good view of the cockpit roof instead of seeing out of the windows. I have to use he 'move eyepoint down' option to reset the view.

Talking of moving the eye point up or down (shift backspace and shift enter), it doesn't work in the 2D panel view, is there a way round this?

I'll check out the Belfast. One of the few Alpha freeware FS9 aircraft I haven't tried in FSX.

You can edit the viewpoint in Panel.cfg - sorry I meant Aircraft.cfg. :-[
This affects the VC view which is what you see when panning in the 2D panel mode & should do what you want. Not sure about those move eyepoint commands as I never use them. When I want to "raise my head" to look out of the windscreen I press W for minipanel view. I always thought that was more realistic than the 2D panels anyway.
