Crash to Desktop Fix Question?

Postby LoftyCyborg » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:10 pm

I downloaded the Crash to Desktop Fix DLL file found under the FSX misc. downloads. After reading the included simple instructions, I looked for a current copy of that same UIAutomationcore.DLL file thinking I would be over-writing it. But there is no file with that name in my FSX Acceleration installation root folder.

Since I experience a crash to the desktop while using the menus in flight pretty much at least once every session with FSX, I wanted to try it, so I did paste the UIAutomationCore.DLL file into the FSX folder, and am about to relaunch FSX. But I am wondering if there is supposed to have been some modified copy of that same file already there, or when you say MS modified the original, do you mean they removed it?

have you checked in your MODULES folder for the: UIAutomationcore.DLL ???

that is where most .dll files are kept. ?/FSX/Modules/UIAutomationcore.DLL

FSX has no Modules folder. I copied this from the instructions.

Yes, you are not suppose to over-write anything.

Just drop the folder into your root FSX folder and the menu crash issue will be a thing of the past.

Thanks for the replies! After adding the file as instructed I didn't have any more crashes, but typically I would only see this issue once per day. I'll post again if it returns in the future.

:)
