FS2004 planes converted for FSX.

I did a search here on using FS2004 planes in FSX. No matches. Question is can one download and use them in FSX?. I know some I have are OK for both. Thanks and if it's a dumb question ignore me.

The only dumb question, is the one you did not ask.

Some will work, some will work but have the proverbial prop behind the clouds/trees problem and some glass anomalies, and some won't work at all. You just have to try them unless you know someone else is already using it. And every model you see for download that says updated for FSX, doesn't mean it is FSX native and everything is perfect. Some are, some aren't. There are even some payware models sold for FSX but are just FS2004 updated to FSX and have the prop behind the cloud problem. If that doesn't bother you, you are in luck, cause there is a ton of those around that work just fine otherwise. Hope this answers your question.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

The prop behind the cloud problem does bother me but like you said, one just has to try the planes. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.

Some of the prop problemss can be fixed by swapping the prop texture bmp (But you may have to re-name it) from a native FSX aircraft.  Sometimes, that works.  Another problem that can be encountered is that the smoke effects are not alinged correctly for FSX.  Usually, you simply have to swap the last two sets of numbers in the smokesystem section of the aircraft.cfg.

It really depends on which aircraft you're interested in. I've found a lot of FS9 models that display very well in FSX. One common problem with some is incompatible gauges.
