Can someone please help me: I have downloaded a file from a website and when I save it, it goes to C:\User\Alan\Downloads but when I want to extract all it then gives me a drop box and tells me, Before you can extract files must copy files to this compressed(zipped)folder....where is the compressed zipped folder???

Try creating a new folder on your desktop and saving the file that you are going to download to the new folder. Then open the new folder and it should show up as a compressed zip. You should then be able to extract all.

It should have already shown up as a ZIP in his download folder.  Right click on the downloaded folder, and select "Properties".  It may not be a zip.

donby, could you provide a link to the download?

i dont know if it could help, i also run on win 7,but everytime i download a file zip or not i put it directly on my office and work from there. if i go in c: users, my name i notice there's a little lock icon there. i may be wrong but i think it's some sort of protection that could prevent you from working that file. bottom line try the office.

His problem is not finding the folder, he got an empty folder in the download. I sent him an email explaining and to try downloading the file again. He may have closed his browser before the download was complete, but not necessarily. I had this happen a while back and I know the download was complete before I closed the browser. I just downloaded the file again and it worked the second time.
