Scenery . . . . .

Can anyone give me advice on scenery that is freeware, of decent quality(ie. better than the default) and is frame rate friendly. Any suggestions?

OzX has quite a bit: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?

and there are quite a few on our server. MoCat's Snow Dog Tours and Land's End packages provide some nice buildings and float plane bases. Snow Dog is for Alaska, Land's End for the continental US.

And anything that mentions Holger Sandman as being involved.
These are just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure others will post more.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

For a wider area, I have recommended this set of freeware addons recently. With them, you will dramatically improve the whole country of Norway with a nice mesh (and the Norway landscapes are magnificient!), a good landclass, and two pack containing several airports all across the country. Unfortunately, I have searched on Simviation and those packages have not been uploaded here. So here is the list:

- Norway Scenic X: this is the landclass covering the whole country. It completely changes the VFR experience, the exploration flights are much more interesting. I use to call this the "freeware FTX" :) Get it there: http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliot ... ge/24.html

- Norway mesh: you need a decent mesh to appreciate those famous fjords ;) Get it here: http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliot ... e/114.html
(parts of the mesh are in 38 meters, the rest is in 76 meters)

- Airports of Norway: a pack containing all the major airports. Get it here: http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliot ... /1296.html

- Airstrips of Norway: same as above, but for small airfields. Some are extremely cool, like Bomoen for example ! Get it here: http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliot ... rge/4.html

With those addons, Norway has become my main flying place when I'm not flying over FTX PNW.  8-)

He has a website where you can download some of his other sceneries, but I've seem to misplace the link. :-/
