I,m pretty sure I came across a workaround for this but can't find it. So when I tried to install the new Vampire package, the dreaded Adobe

You've obviously recently installed Adobe AIR. Probably while updating Adobe Reader. This will automatically associate itself with all AIR files & change the file icon & description. A fix is not necessary as FSX can still read the AIR file. It is NOT an Installer Package so don't try to run it. The only way I know of changing the AIR file icon back to its original appearance is to uninstall Adobe AIR from Add/Remove Programs.

Thanks, Hagar. I chose to remove the Adobe AIR package, which I am sure was installed as part of an update. Vampire installed with no issues. And yes, I did initially take the .air file as an installer - prob. thrown off by the different icon. ::)
