Overspeed

Is there any way to turn up my max speed on the FSX LJ45 or CRJ700?  I don't like to crank up the simulation rate, but think flying at 340 knots is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too slow.

You are not taking into account your altitude, and confusing Indicated Airspeed (IAS) with True Airspeed (TAS) and/or Groundspeed (GS).

The needle on your airspeed indicator is an indication of air pressure on the pitot sensor, which will be much lower when at higher altitudes...

IOW, it isn't like the speedometer in your car! 340 KIAS at cruising altitude is more like 600-700 knots TAS or GS.

That's why at Flight Levels (FL), you use the mach speed to judge your airspeed.

340 KIAS / 0.885 Mach @ FL410 is rather typical for large jet aircraft.

I used to wonder the same thing.  Rework flight dynamics (difficult) or turn off "stress causes damage" and disable 'overspeed alarm- then push speed. Not very realistic.

More effective- I got bored with the 45 and downloaded the Gulfstream IV.

I've reworked the panel to improve it, but a great Jet.

Isn't there something in the aircraft.cfg about maximum airspeed?

You are ALL missing the point. The a/c is already flying at Vmo (maximum) airspeed.

It's your understanding that's at fault; not the aircraft flight dynamics...
