Edit Voice Pack

Postby coalpedlar » Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:04 pm

Well,
I've learned how to edit the voice pack.  Got the voice file saved for a fictitious Airline.  When I start the Flight, contact ground it says the name of the Airline; but doesn't print the Airline Name in the ATC window.

How do I get the Airline name to print in the ATC window?
Any suggestions?  Is there a correct syntax?

Knick
KLM & Transat are both in MY voice pak.  Try this

Go to FSX main floder- Airlines.cfg file.  It's after the folders.
Open file in notepad.
Add KLM (all caps)
close file & save.

Start flight Sim, select Aircraft, Details select KLM for Airline it should say KLM.

If not, check Aircraft'cfg in the plane under Sim Objects 'Airplanes', edit cfg line ATC= Leave blan, or add KLM.

Let me know if it works.

Transat is also in there, but not Air Transat.

Same procedure.

Good Luck.

Alex, the SDK for the Sound Pack was released eight years ago*.

The main reason why no one's used it is simply because having actually read the instructions for it, no one's been willing to invest the time, energy and expense of recording and "marking" (using a very expensive sound editor!) the 36,000+ individual .wav files...

What precisely is "HOOEY?" Are you referring to Editvoicepak, which is free, but certainly not able to "make it say anything you want."

If you are referring to my post about the ATC SDK, yes it too is free. However the sound editing program required to insert the markers and tokens is not; it is around $374.95:

From the ATC SDK:

Bill,
I don't know much abt 2004- I quit using it years ago.

But, my FSX is saying everything I've put into it.

Not my intent to debate with you, I'm just trying to improve the realism of 'my system'.

FSX's ATC "system" is bit-for-bit identical to FS9's ATC "system. That's why ACES didn't bother releasing an FSX ATC SDK.

I'm not interested in "debate" either. I'm only interested in providing accurate, factual information, along with the sources I've used for further edification.

Given that I've been professionally involved with FS development for the past twelve years, I've got a fairly good handle on how things work...

...although I'll be the first to admit to learning at least "one new thing" everyday!  ;D
