TACAN Approaches

Postby FLLflyboy » Thu Sep 09, 2010 11:08 pm

Ok, so I know how to shoot an ILS, a VOR, a GPS approach etc. But I also  downloaded some military planes and was wondering if it's at all possible to shoot a TACAN approach. If so, can someone help me? I've looked all through the cockpit and couldn't find anything that would be useful. Thanks.

I, despite an avation major, have limited knowledge of TACAN systems. I even had to look up what it was ;)  Anyway, FSX was designed as a civil flight simulator. TACAN has a very limited use in the civilian world so it is my belief that FS has no systems for them.

So my money is that you wont find and TACANS in the FS world. Let alone an aircraft that can use them.

As has been stated, TACAN is primarily a military navigation system.
Don't ask an aviator if he flys fighters.

The big difference between military TACAN and VOR is their frequency range - one is UHF, the other VHF.
