Remember the FS2004 Aircraft Menu..?

Postby Cessnaporsche01 » Wed Sep 08, 2010 2:47 pm

Is there any simple - or at least relatively easy - way to set FSX to have an/the Aircraft Selection Menu like the one from FS9? Or at least so that it doesn't have to load every variant of every aircraft when I go to choose?

After four years I've gotten tired of waiting while all of the hundreds of airplane screenshots load when I go to choose my plane.

Easy. Uncheck the menu option for "Show all variations".

Still takes forever... and it has a nasty habit of not staying checked.

There is a parameter in the FSX.cfg that seems to indicate some kind of default choice for the "manufacturer" field of the aircraft menu.

Unfortunately, I tried modifying it to "Airbus" for example, and it didn't work. I don't know if I did something wrong or if the parameter is simply ignored...

Hmm. That bears looking into. Maybe it uses something other than the actual name of the manufacturer to designate it.

Another option is to take all those aircraft that you don't fly and create a "hanger" folder and put the infrequently used aircraft folders in it.
