Aircraft Carrier

Postby Flying Trucker » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:58 pm

Good afternoon all... :)

I am looking for an aircraft carrier that will work for me with Vista and FSX.

I want to be able to place it where ever I want such as the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans and then land and take-off in whatever aircraft/helicopter I wish to use.

I would also require some simple help as to installing this ship.
I downloaded the Ark Royal and the program installed it in FSX> SimObjects>Boats but now I do not know how to place it or pick a flying machine of my choice to fly off and on it.

Any help would be most appreciated.    :)

Hi Doug,

You'll have to download and install a freeware program nammed "AI Carriers v2". You will find it in the FSX utilities section... or FSX Misc, I don't remember.

However, before trying to run this program, please launch Windows Update, and ensure that you have all of the updates for .NET Framework.
Also make sure that you have the Java runtimes installed, too.

This program is quite simple. Once you have installed it, it will auto-launch with FSX, just like FS Recorder for example. When you download some FSX carriers, usually in the readme you can find the instructions to make this carrier work with AI carriers.

When you are in the game, you just have to press SHIFT+J, a window appears (same look as the ATC window), and you have the choices between all the carriers, and then you can choose where to make it appear, with choices like:
- user position
- 1nm away
- 5 nm away etc...

And the cool thing is, once it has appeared, you can call the SHIFT+J window again and give the carrier instructions to go forward, turn, stop, dissapear etc... :)

To go along with AI Carriers, http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?I ... &mark=5266
Multiple highly detail carriers with different deck configurations, such as, Launch/Recovery Configuration, T-45 Carrier Quals, ect.

Good morning all... :)

Sorry to take so long to say thanks "BoeingGuy".   ;)

Downloaded the "Link" and it is installed.

Still having a few problems like trying to put more than one aircraft on the Flight Deck of an Aircraft Carrier.

I shall keep trying though until I get to where I want to go... ;)

Good afternoon all... :)

Okay I have tried everything I can think of.

I still can not place more than one aircraft on an aircraft carriers deck.
I tried the program Formation Setup because it allows four (4) different types of aircraft to be placed on an airfield in several different formations and not including the users aircraft.

The Aircraft Carrier HMS Victorious "Early War Years" places the FSX Default Cessna 172 on the deck of that aircraft carrier and then I can switch aircraft.
But, I can not seem to get Formation Setup to work there.

What I would like to do is place a Fairey Swordfish, Firefly and several other World War Two aircraft on the flight deck in Line Astern on the aircraft carrier.

Comments and advice most welcome.   :)

I don't think Victorious is an actual airfield, just like other FSX carriers. That's why you can't spawn on it except with the included flight.

Okay thanks Lima-Victor-Mike.
I was getting frustrated trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

I wonder if there is a Freeware Program that allows an aircraft/helicopter to start a flight from an aircraft carrier and end it there as well?

That would be interesting.    ;)

I suggest you email the developers of aicarriers. ;) Maybe they can figure out a way to make an instant airfield when spawning a carrier... Would be very nice indeed ;D

EDIT: I sometimes fly with a guy called HOTZONER, I don't know if he roams around the 'V', but he made a fuel point for a static carrier we sometimes use for on line operations. I haven't downlaoded it (yet) but I guess it involves creating an airfield at that point. The only thing is that it will always have to be static, unlike the Victorious doing its loops in the Med.

Keep us posted Doug.  I too downloaded 'HMS Victorious' from Flying Stations and don't have a clue what to do with it  :).

Goodly morning all... :)

Hi Dave "olderndirt" if you have the Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Victorious downloaded and installed all you need to do is start FSX.

-Start FSX
-Go to "LOAD" saved flights
-You will find three (3) options for HMS Victorious

I think this would work with a static carrier as used in FS9. I haven't tried an FS9 carrier in FSX.
