If your GeForce is somewhat mid-range or higher (Say, around an 8800gts, geforce 9600, gts240 or greater), I think that little i3 can pull it off.  Having a lesser video card of recent generation would probably work not too bad, though you would probably have to cut down on the sliders a bit, and it might look better just to get FS9.  Another couple gigs of RAM would also help me thinks.
Cheers,
RB

Mine runs it at darned near "gangbuster" levels-- and I have ancient video cards. My RAM is only DDR2 at 800MHZ. My chip ain't no i7, that's for sure. I run my sliders at max or near it for pretty much all of them. I'm not too concerned about water effects, but I love to watch the cars and trucks go by on the roads and highways down below. If an i5 will fit your socket, maybe get one of those. FSX is processor-intensive, whereas FS9 is graphics-intensive. If I'm wrong about that, someone please correct me...

Be sure to apply Jesus Altuve's mid-level tweaks to your FSX.cfg.

Ooooh! What are those? Can a computer know-nothing like me implement them?
