FSX keeps crashing!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so everytime i play the game i can only get a flight going for 20 minutes then my fsx crashes . My dell then says fatal error and restarts my fsx. What is going on? How can i fix it?

Does it happen on it's own? or when you go to click on something?

Did you install any add-ons?, and then the trouble started?

Sometimes the FSX.cfg gets corrupted and also in the case of fatal errors, also the Logbook.BIN, make a back-up of the fsx.cfg and the logbook.bin and let the sim write new ones.

it crashes by itself during the flight. And yes i do have add ons. Im using a dell optiplex 960

Mine did the same thing, it would freeze and then crash.

hi guys im having this problem too. I have removed some of the downloaded a/c from the simobjects/airplanes files as I may have had too many. but it still keeps crashing midflight when i go to click on something for example when i want to change the simulation speed. Also sometimes the display size changes once fsx restarts! Help.

OK, like I mention at the start of this post, back up both FSX.cfg and the Logbook.BIN, place them somewere else(Your Documents), then delete the orginals and let the sim write new ones. If that doesn't work, you can goto the fsx repair mode, or you might have to do a complete reinstall.

Start/search/fsx.cfg/hard drive(s)/hidden files and folders/begin search - do the same for logbook.bin

Hi thanks for that. I have done this. The only problem I have is that now i only have 1 texture for each aircraft type i.e the standard 747. the other texture files are there in the a/c file but are not showing when i go to choose an aircraft!

any ideas on how i correct this???

Try clicking the "Show all variations" box on the Aircraft selection menu.

dont worry guys i realised what i had done!! The other thing i need to know is i am using a logitech atack 3 joystick. this functions ok but with some aircraft it is very difficult to control. Any suggestions????

Turn down the sensitivities, such as loosening the null zones, et cetera. If your null zones are very narrow, every small movement of the stick translates to large movements of the animated surfaces...

My suggestion would be to invest in a new joystick with twist-grip rudder control.
