fsx crashing: a fatal error occured!!!!

Postby Capt.S.Prest » Mon May 31, 2010 7:53 pm

i'm getting really sick of this. There is a problem with fsx and i still haven't found a solution. After a while during the flight, if you click on the top menu or you right click on the screen, everything just freezes and then it brings up an error message saying: a fatal error occurred!!!!....i was just on approach after a 7 hour flight and i just clicked on the EICAS panel to enlarge it and next thing the program crashes.

please i am BEGGING....does anyone have a solution to this.

Edit your fsx.cfg file and in the [GRAPHICS] section, add the line:

HIGHMEMFIX=1

This often fixes graphics memory errors that occur after a long period of flying. It has no negative affects.

It's a new entry. According to Peter's instructions you add the line below the [GRAPHICS] section.

I doubt adding the mentioned line into your .CFG will solve the issue.

The problem you mentioned seems to be a common FSX & Win 7 problem. I assume you run Win 7.

The actual crash results from left clicking alot & opening up items within the menu bar.

This error is due to a negative result coming from the uiautomationcore.dll library in Windows 7.

I managed to resolve the issue (thanx to advice I got from browsing & not by my own invention) by placing the uiautomationcore.dll from Vista into my root FSX folder.

Here is some serious reading material about the problem.

You will also find the download links for the uiautomationcore.dll that you need to place into your FSX root folder to avoid this problem.
