issues...............

Postby D. Miller » Wed May 05, 2010 1:17 pm

My lovely HP notebook crashed.  I sent it off and they replaced the hard drive, which erased my what had to be years of flight time accumulated.  I reloaded the Flight Sim X Deluxe version with the acceleration pack today, and none of the various liveries / textures are showing up.  All the files are there, the various textures and the aircraft.cfg files are correct they are just not showing up on the library.  These are the default Bell 206's, CRJ-700's, 737, 747 etc....

I tried to add a freeware and after copying aircraft.cfg file in notepad an error message said access denied and wouldn't allow me to save changes.

Any ideas??

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Are you not seeing the default liveries or add-on liveries?

Are you seeing 1 instance of each aircraft? If so, in the select aircraft window put a check mark in 'Show all variations'.

The other problem sounds like the Vista/W7 UAC security issue. It guards files, including .cfg files, within the Program Files folder. You must be logged in with admin. privilige. Right click on the FSX main folder and find the 'permissions' settings and give yourself full access with admin. rights to the folder. I can't be more specific as I still use XP

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Both fixed!  I am wishing I would have stuck with XP, Winblows 7 is tough to get use to.

Thank you very much for your help.
