[quote]The VC is more realistic but panning with a hat switch is really clumsy so I back away to see most of it without panning

...sight-seeing is my main reason for using Flight Sims....

...don't need anything fancy!...;)....!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and a Map... 8-)...!

I like his answer, I am in 2D 98% of the time but if it has VC i'll use it before and after take off, but never during. I like to be able to get to every thing when I need it with out learning new buttons, but in auto pilot or taxiing< it does not bother me.

excellent fire starter too - for emergencies - also, if nature calls, and you have abslutely nothing better - try not to use your planned route :D.

The only aircraft I use the VC during the entire flight is the Curtiss Jenny, other than that I'll use the 2d panel for all other aircraft during takeoffs and landings, and for navigation , but I'll switch to the VC once in awhile when I'm cruising to check out the scenery and to maintain my course looking for landmarks. Spot views I use mostly for taxiing and screenshots.

[color=#000000]I switch back and forth between vc and spot. I like to look around and it's easier in spot due to 360 degree field of view using the hat. I usually prefer to land while in the vc though, fewer bounces.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I like having the 2D panel in front of me all/most of the time, complete with all its instruments, together with button/keyboard-operated, drop-down, additional instrument, etc, resizeable panels.

....and I particularly like the re-sizeable panel versions (default), which can be reduced in height to obtain a better view forward!

The simulated 3D panel is never as easy to navigate ones way around by hand and eye, as the real thing!

I am generally in 2D myself, so I can easily see all the gauges also. In the C172 tho, if I am in 3D, I just reduce the view to 60%, and I can see all the panel the same as I would in 2D.
