It depends on the aircraft.  If it has a good VC, I'll fly the VC, usually.  If it has no VC, I'll fly it anyway.  I'm not going to not fly something just because it has no VC.  There are too many good aircraft out there without a VC to pass them up because of one little "detail".

But, to each his own. :)

Nearly always in a 2D cockpit, with ALL the instruments/controls laid out before me ......without having to scroll around with the mouse/hat switch while having to frantically control the Aircraft at the same time!..... :o...!

I also like "resizeable" 2D cockpit panels (fitted on my default aircraft) reducing the panel height, which give me a better view forward... :-*...!

I did not like 3D for some reason, probably because I was use to 2D and only flew 2D cockpits until I got the Accel FA18, then I had to fly that in 3D because it did not have 2D.  After I got use to 3D in the FA18 it was like "Wow look at what I have been missing!" and I never went back, only fly 3D now!

VC with Track IR... Without VC or without TrackIR it's not the same IMO... (at least using 1 monitor setup)

i always switch from VC to position view. i like the position view for the perspective it gave me for where i'm going, but i need the informations ( altitude, rate descent, speed ) to be able to land correctly.

Same here, unless I deem it good for a screen shot, but then that is only time I use it.

The VC is more realistic but panning with a hat switch is really clumsy so I back away to see most of it without panning
