Brakes Questions

Postby venomhatch » Tue Apr 27, 2010 8:20 pm

FSX
737-700NG

I have a 737-700NG that I borrowed the texture and model from posky then added the vc from 737-800 in microsoft, merged them. Added HID landing lights. But I noticed my autobrake for landing is not working even if I arm it. It says it is armed. Set it for position 2. But nothing. Also my brakes dont hold the plane still when trying to achieve max thrust before taking off on a short runway.

I even added the posky autobrake panel from the 777-200 that was recommended. Nothing....

Any help???

Thanks.

My config says

[brakes]
parking_brake = 1

dharris, the Posky stuff is all free. Plus he's not reselling anything. Why do you consider that stealing?

Exactly what i was originally going to say.

There is always an last picked kid and dharris must have been it.

Rather than pass any judgement, I am more inclinded to give dharris the benefit of doubt that he simply did not know Posky stuff is freeware. I see that he is a relatively new member of this forum and I might have had a somewhat similar reaction if I thought someone was stealing payware.

By the way Venomhatch, in my childhood I was one of those kids who was always "the last pick" during recess. In my adulthood, I have been the Vice President of Engineering at a number of major corporations and I am currently working on joining a well-known university as a professor.

Well I would like to congratulate you, not being sarcastic. I see what your talking about he is a bit of a newer person. I just read into that. But I dont steal from anyone and for him to say some stupid crap like that. I pay for all my payware and share my freeware.

I was a middle pick kid and I love my career as a real pilot. But I really do say good for you on your accomplishments. I mean it.

Thanks, I really do appreciate what you said and congratulate you on being a pilot (I always admired the skills that it takes). It sounds like we are all on the same page.

With regard to your brake problem, have you tried setting the autobrake in both VC mode and in 2D cockpit mode? Sometimes it works in one but not the other.

I have not yet looked at the XML code in the MS 737 cockpit but if the gauges have a user-defined variable for autobrakes, the aircraft model would not be able to interpret it.

UPDATE:
I looked at the MS stock B737-800 panel XML code and found that the gauges are using the standard FSX variable "AUTO BRAKE SWITCH CB" to contain the autobrake selection. Also, the gauges use the two standard FSX key events "INCREASE_AUTOBRAKE_CONTROL" and "DECREASE_AUTOBRAKE_CONTROL" to change the state of the selection. This is good. However, I did notice that the VC does not support the control of this variable; only the 2d panel does. Also, could you tell me exactly which Posky 737-700 base pack you downloaded?

Thanks. I downloaded the file but I see that it is the model pack. I am interested in seeing the base pack that has the aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg files, as I want to make sure that it is FSX compatible and doesn't depend on some FS 2004 functionality.

ohh sorry man here that is, I am sorry thats the package I blended with the VC

I took the model from that link I posted just now.
The texture I got from this package, the plane's core thinking and abilities come from this link: http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php ... owfile=132

But I have messed with the following areas on this aircraft cfg: Lights, Exits, VC, Views, and where it goes for what model and and to add the VC.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. Did you change panel.cfg to point to "alias=B737_800\panel" instead of "alias=B737_400\panel"?

I dont see anything starting with alias. But everything I see in there starting with 737 all have -800 behind that.

Except in the radio stack area but even the MS 737-800 says that under its radio stack.

OK, I think your autobrakes are working but your braking force is only half of what it should be. In aircraft.cfg of the stock 737 the brakes are defined as "toe_brakes_scale = 0.885". If you change it to that from your current value of 0.43 you should see a significant improvement.
