Odd new graphics glitch

Postby AH_Moggy » Wed Apr 21, 2010 10:27 pm

Howdy folks:

I've just recently noticed a strange graphic glitch of vertical "columns" rendered both in cockpit and external views.

make sure that your graphics display is set for 32 bits of color and not 16. The columns that you see are due to what is called "mock banding". It happens when a scene has a very gradual change in color or intensity, and the number of available color levels in the RGB representation is not fine enough to fool the eye/brain into thinking that the color or intensity change is continuous.

I think DX10 and win7 don't mix very well, have you seen this problem without the DX10 preview ?

It is set @ 2560 x 1600 x 32 (same as desktop;  monitor's native resolution).  Thanks for the info on "mock banding."

I pretty much have to run the game in DX10.  If I revert to DX9 my frame-rates drop by half.  Have no idea why.
