FSX Acceleration

Postby Bubblehead » Thu Apr 08, 2010 6:32 pm

I did a clean reinstall of my FSX not too long ago. In the Add/Remove list, it shows that I have the FSX Acceleration in my PC but whenever I try to do add-on such as in Mission, it warns me that I need the FSX Acceleration Pack. I have the disk. How would I know if I have it installed and why does it show in the Add/Remove list that I have the program installed?

A real quick way to tell is, if your FSX opens on the 'free flight' window, it'll say acceleration along the top bar.

Should I remove the FSX Acceleration shown in the Add/Remove before reinstalling?

When you uninstall fsx you need to uninstal it in the order you insatlled it, so that registry entries can be removed. Yes remove the Acceleration entry in the uninstall list, as this is what the installer sees when you try to reinstall and says it is alreadt installed.

OK. In the currently Installed Program list of the Add/Remove Programs here's what I am seeing:

MS Flight Simulator X SP2                          617MB
MS Flight Simulator X: Acceleration           3392MB
Flight Simulator X                       No size indicated
Flight Simulator X SP1                No size indicated

When I tried to remove MS Flight Simulaotr X: Acceleration, I get this notice from a Window Installer box:

"This action is only valid for products that are currecntly installed".

Nonetheless I've been playing with the FSX without any problem other than that I can't benefit from the Acceleration features. Know why there are no sizes indicated for the Flight Simulaotr X and the Flight Simulator X SP1? I remember having trouble uninstalling the game while trying to do a clean Re-install.
