FSX Acceleration

Postby Bubblehead » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:22 pm

I'm going to do a clean re-load of my FSX. I've had the program since its inception and after close to 25 Gb of add-ons,  it may improve performance somewhat if I re-install. I have the original FSX disc and copies of SP1 and SP2. My question: Is Flight Simulator X Acceleration an add-on or is it the complete FSX software with Acceleration. Also I'm saving my add-ons. If I were to use them again I can select aircraft but how do I select applicable gauges, sound, effects, etc.?

Acceleration is an "add-on" to FSX. It must be installed AFTER Standard or Deluxe edition are installed.

As for your second question, I am unable to answer that. I'll let someone who's smarter than me answer it.  ;D

You should install either SP2 or Acceleration. If you already installed SP2, then uninstall it before you load Acceleration.

My flight sim disk is titled "Flight Simulator X Acceleration" which has about 3 GHz of info in it so it must be a full FSX software but with Acceleration.

There are two disks:
Disk 1 is FSK and this gets installed first.
For Disk 1 you may have purchased plain FSX or you may have purchased FSX Deluxe.  FSX Deluxe includes SDK and some planes that FSX plain does not.

Disk 2 is Acceleration and this gets installed second.

Acceleration inlcudes SP2.

Even if you purchased FSX Gold that includes FSX Deluxe and FSX Acceleration there are still two disks in the package, one with FSX Deluxe and one with FSX Acceleration.
