If I understand correctly, this black screen flashes do not occur immediately, but after some minutes of flight or after an intensive work.
In that case, it seems to me that this problem is not related to FSX, but more to your hardware. Something's getting to hot. You might want to clean the cooling devices inside your computer, for the CPU and the video card.

:) :) :)WoooHoooo!!! Switching to DX10 and back, cleared the malfunction! THANK YOU both for the fine suggestions. I lost count of how many work hours and "flight" hours I've lost because of this. I know I have collected more than 50 "First Flight" badges LOL. THANKS AGAIN!

Well, bad news. The DX10 trick worked for a couple of short flights. I booted the cold computer this morning and immediately loaded FSX and the black outs are back. I tried the DX10 trick again, but no dice. I have most of my textures, effects, and of course, payware scenery & aircraft on disc now, so I can recover fairly quickly. I just have to remember to put all AFX files to disc for next time.

I'll keep a eye on the temps, but according to the gauge on the vid card, it's registering a max of 50*C, which I understand is quite good, but, no telling....

If anybody has any other ideas or tricks, others seem to have this problem occasionally also.

Blue Sky Wishes,

Dave
